Nursing technician dies with covid-19 after taking 1st dose of vaccine.

Had cardiorespiratory arrest; Did not get the 2nd dose because he had coronavirus (in Poder360)

A nursing technician died of Covid-19 on Friday (19 Feb. 2021). She had already received the 1st dose of the coronavirus vaccine, but did not get the 2nd dose. Nair de Fátima Silva, 50, had worked at the University Hospital of Londrina, in northern Paraná, for 26 years. She was vaccinated with the 1st dose on January 21, but was unable to receive the 2nd application this week, as she was infected with the coronavirus. In Brazil, CoronaVac vaccines, developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical company in partnership with Instituto Butantan, and AstraZeneca’s, developed with the University of Oxford, are being applied. Both received authorization from Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) for emergency use on January 17. Both vaccines require immunization with two doses. The 2nd dose of CoronaVac should be applied from 14 to 28 days after the 1st application. AstraZeneca’s should be applied 22 days after the 1st dose. It was not disclosed which vaccine the nurse received. The information was from the RIC Mais portal. Nair de Fátima Silva, 50, worked at the University Hospital of Londrina, in northern Paraná, for 26 years According to the HU Londrina advisory, on February 12, the nursing technician, who was diabetic, had to be hospitalized after presenting decompensated blood glucose. The next day, on February 13, she was diagnosed with covid-19, but on the 16th she was discharged. Almost a week later, on Friday (Feb. 19), Nair suffered a cardiac arrest at home. She was taken to the Zona Norte Hospital, but she was already dead when she arrived. The case will be investigated by the 17th Regional Health Department of Paraná. According to Felipe Assan Remondi, head of the health surveillance division, all reactions that occur in people vaccinated for a period of up to 30 days after the application of the immunizers should be analyzed to identify whether or not there was a relationship with the vaccine. “As it is a new vaccine, all adverse events from the mildest to the most serious, occurring within 30 days after vaccination, are notified and are monitored by the health service even to be able to say whether there is a relationship or not with vaccination”, Remondi told RIC Mais. EFFECTIVENESS OF VACCINES CoronaVac is the main bet of the government of the State of São Paulo for vaccination against coronavirus. The federal government signed a contract for the acquisition of 100 million doses of CoronaVac with the Butantan Institute. The agency, which develops the immunizer in partnership with Sinovac, reported that the vaccine has an overall effectiveness of 50.38%. On December 24, Turkey claimed that CoronaVac in the country was 91.25% effective after testing 1,300 people. On January 11, Indonesia announced that the immunizer is 65.3% effective. On February 2, the University of Oxford released a preliminary study pointed out that the vaccine developed with AstraZeneca against covid-19 is 76% effective from 22 days to 90 days after the first dose is applied. The effectiveness goes to 82.4% after the 2nd dose applied 12 weeks or more after the 1st. This result is better than what shows an efficiency of 54.9% when the booster is applied less than 6 weeks after the 1st dose. On the RICMAIS portal: Faced with the controversy on social networks, where several people are spreading that the death would have been caused by the vaccine. The doctor points out that in order for the person to be in fact protected against covid-19, in the case of Coronavac, it is essential that she take two doses of the vaccine. “Any virus ends up giving a diminished immune system. So, if you get a vaccine with any viral disease, especially covid, it ends up taking even longer to have an efficient immune response to possibly fight a future infection. Even if she had a normal flu, it is not indicated ”, explains Aline Stipp, doctor in microbiology. “IT WAS NOT YET PROTECTED WITH PROVEN RESEARCH EFFECTIVENESS. SO, YOU NEED TO TAKE BOTH DOSES TO BE EFFECTIVELY 78% EFFECTIVE, WHICH HAS BEEN PROVEN. THE FIRST DOSE DOES NOT SAY WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE IMMUNE, ”SAYS STIPP. The microbiologist also explains that even after the second dose, it is necessary to wait a period for the body to respond to the immunizer. “WE CALL IT AN IMMUNOLOGICAL WINDOW. THE ORGANISM TAKES 14 TO 15 DAYS TO RESPOND TO THE VACCINE. THERE ARE STUDIES THAT SAY IT TAKES UP TO 20 DAYS. IT DEPENDS A LOT ON THE PERSON’S IMMUNE SYSTEM. SO, SHE HAS TO BE PROTECTED, WITH A MASK, WITH HAND WASHING, WITH ALL THE CARE FOR TWO TO THREE WEEKS, ”ADDS STIPP. “Green Pass” for those vaccinated against Covid accelerates return to normal life in Israel
